Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full-time Materials Planner to join our dynamic Production Teams in Edmonton, Alberta.

 Job Description:
  • Day Hours: Shift (8hr) - Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Location: 8308 McIntyre Road, Edmonton, AB.

Responsibilities: As a Materials Planner your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting follow ups on ordered material to confirm receipt of order and required dates for delivery
  • Assist with material receiving as needed
  • Order materials as assigned, release material as assigned
  • Schedule and plan saw cutting and double checks of materials issued on completion
  • Update work order routing information
  • Monitoring production schedules to ensure cut material queued and ready for the next job
  • Complete inventory counts and help manage raw material inventory
  • Applying lean principles to the manufacturing process to enhance quality and minimize waste.
  • Adhering to the Quality Management program and promoting a culture of quality throughout the organization.
  • Complying with our Safety program to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • You may be required to perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by your supervisor or manager to support team objectives and maintain operational efficiency.

Skills and Experience Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.  The role has both adminstrative and hands on
  • Able to operate a forklift
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in recordkeeping and management to maintain accurate and organized documentation.
  • Some purchasing experience would be an asset
  • Some mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, material test reports
  • Knowledge of quality control principles, with an emphasis on quality at the source.
  • Intermediate proficiency in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) functions to manage inventory, work orders and facilitate efficient processes.
